Drive Sweden Business Model Lab 2020-2021
Automated Connected Vehicles and Mobility services create new business opportunities. Continuous improvements in technology address many of the current technological challenges, while business models remain a bottleneck.
Purpose and goal
The goal was to undergo in-depth studies with partners to develop business models that are verified with customers and partners to test hypothesis which bridges the "death valley", ie the point where innovation companies have developed and verified a solution but still failed to generate commercial entry and revenue. These cases have in common that work in practice has removed barriers to commercialization through business modeling, development or completely new BMs and the establishment of partnerships to remove barriers to commercialization.
Expected results and effects
Results show that Univrses business model (AM) based on visualization of urban city data is verified with two potential customers. Elonroad has resulted in a new AM with stationary automatic charging as a service through collaboration with Vattenfall Energy Solutions. Freelway´s business modeling has resulted in a new service for on demand traffic at destinations that have been launched. Luvly has resulted in a new AM for the company´s patented production process, which enables competitive advantages for carriers such as Bring.
Planned approach and implementation
The implementation of BML scale up has gone according to plan. The BML team conducted several workshops, interviews, match making with partners / potential customers designed to develop and verify business models. The methodology in BML scale up is based on in-depth business modeling, use of tools such as Business Model canvas and value proposition canvas, verification with customers and partners to test hypothesis. In general, the work with cases was carried out according to this method. However, each case naturally involved several unique parts.
