About us

Drive Sweden is a national initiative for more sustainable transportation systems. The program brings together over 200 stakeholders from the business, academia, and the public sector. By financing innovations, Drive Sweden contributes to making new solutions in shared, connected and automated mobility not only technically, commercially, and legally feasible but also creates benefits for society, individuals, and businesses. The program has been in operation since 2015 and is financed by Vinnova, the Swedish Energy Agency, and Formas. Partners confirm that the broad collaboration in projects and program activities leads to significantly increased innovation capacity, more well-founded decisions, rapid knowledge development and market-adapted solutions.

Partners

The partners create the greatest effects of the program's work; both through an exchange of knowledge that strengthens all different actors but also through concrete results and initiatives from the projects and forums in which they participate. Our partners represent the public sector, business and academia – both nationally and internationally. See all our partners here.

Program Board

The board is responsible for the program's project portfolio, innovation agenda and strategic direction. The board consists of representatives from our partner organisations. The members are elected by our partners at the annual general meeting, which is held once a year. If you want to nominate a candidate for the board or get in touch with the election committee, email programoffice@drivesweden.net

Drive Sweden is governed by the program board that was elected at the Annual General Meeting in February 2024.

Focus areas

Our committed partners have a good overview of Automated transport, Data and digital infrastructure as well as Micromobility and micrologistics. Together, the focus areas drive development in line with the program's goals and vision. The focus areas provide the basis for the innovation agenda and participate in the planning and implementation of our events and program activities.

Program Office

Drive Sweden's program office has developed and supported project ideas, planned and implemented program activities and written the basis for the program's innovation agenda. The participants were representatives from our partner organizations. Members of the program office 2025 in the picture below.

Get involved!

In order to change our current mobility system to a connected, automated and sustainable system, cooperation between different kinds of stakeholders is necessary. Drive Sweden is an ecosystem of about 200 partners from industry, society and academia that together develop, test and implement efficient, connected, shared and automated transport solutions.

The program

Drive Sweden is one of Sweden's 17 Strategic Innovation Programs, with funding from VinnovaThe Swedish Energy Agency and Formas. The actor-driven Innovation Programs work together in areas that are strategically important for Sweden and shall contribute to creating sustainable solutions to global societal challenges and increased international competitiveness. The Swedish government invests a total of eight billion SEK for the programs that can receive funding for up to twelve years, with business and other actors mirroring this investment.
