Climate-Smart Mobility 2030
The purpose of the project has been to contribute to an accelerated transition to sustainable mobility in Swedish cities. The goal has been to deepen and develop "Climate-Smart Mobility 2030" which has been a collaboration between Drive Sweden, Viable Cities and the 23 Swedish cities participating in the initiative Climate-neutral cities 2030.
Mobility and transport are central for the transition to climate neutrality. Swedish cities have great potential to, together with business, academia and civil society, be pioneers in the development and implementation of solutions that contribute to system change. In connection with the rapid change required to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement, there is great potential to shape new markets and find new business opportunities in the field of mobility, both nationally and internationally. Therefore, the strategic innovation programs Drive Sweden and Viable Cities started a collaboration in the spring of 2021 to support and accelerate the transition to climate-neutral cities in Sweden by 2030.
In a joint working group, we drive the work to strengthen our respective network's initiatives and not least the work for more sustainable cities. In order to bring together municipalities, businesses, decision-makers, academia and other organisations, we organize recurring meetings focusing on themes set by participating parties and the aim to drive more sustainable mobility initiatives and raise knowledge about what is possible to do. We also organize the annual conference "Climate-Smart Mobility 2030".
During the ongoing meetings held throughout the year, the participants meet decision-makers, researchers and opinion leaders who in various ways spread knowledge that can strengthen the municipalities and other involved actors in their work for more sustainable mobility.
Participating parties also have the opportunity to learn more about policy and regulations – what is doable and what is not and who will be responsible – and brainstorm ideas that can be developed into projects.
