Exchange of ideas about tomorrow's mobility

High level representatives from the Ministry of Transport and Land Transport Authority in Singapore visited Sweden and met up with several Swedish entities at an exclusive Drive Sweden-event at Lindholmen Science Park. They shared Singapore's vision for how automated vehicles will help shape the transportation system of the future. Their hope is that the increase in private vehicles will be 0% in a few years, that shared mobility services will grow and the aim is also to encourage the public to use public transport, by making it even more convenient.

Pang Kin Keong, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Transport was enthusiastic, and commented:

-When we scan the international environment, I see Sweden and Singapore amongst a small group of countries leading the world in terms of developing a vision for future mobility. 

-I think it has been extremely beneficial for us to get in touch, discuss, share ideas and to collaborate to set the standards for the future. Also learning lessons from each other and to participate in the studies and projects that's going on in both Sweden and Singapore. I think it is mutual beneficial and all of us can benefit in a great way.​

A visit at Scania in Södertälje, where platooning was demonstrated, and discussions with Catharina Elmsäter Svärd, chairwoman of Drive Sweden and former Minister for Infrastructure, was also on the agenda.
