Coordination of business trips with rental car

The project will develop a way that enables companies to offer a shared mobility service with high user acceptance through a digital coordination solution for business trips with a rental car. Employees must be able to easily share vehicles based on routes and times via a digital solution.

A coordinating solution for business trips with a rental car, like the one that will be developed in the project, contributes to increased transport efficiency. This speeds up the transformation of the transport system, in line with Sweden's climate goals. The project will generate knowledge about how a coordinating solution should be designed so that it meets the needs of companies, employees and car rental companies through rigorous testing and user evaluation. The project will also study the effects coordinated rental car trips have on the individual (mobility behaviour), the companies, the environment and the transport work.

Planned structure and implementation

RISE, Freelway and Europcar will together with the test companies Sandvik and Scania implement the project. The core of the project is a sharp test of a digital solution for coordinated business trips by rental car with the two test companies over 57 months. The test is preceded by a thorough planning phase (e.g. needs mapping, requirements statement, development of the digital solution) and environmental analysis, and is followed up with an evaluation as well as a reflection and communication part that will ensure scale-up and dissemination of the solution to more customer companies in order to achieve greater effect.

Business model and role distribution between rental car company, platform provider and business customers as well as evaluation of behavior/function will be studied.
