Digital solutions for sustainable planning and management of shared micromobility using Big Data

While shared micro-mobility systems (SMS) have been broadly adopted in the EU and worldwide, the “actual” performance of current SMS in terms of environmental efficiency and impact on different user groups, as well as how to effectively manage SMS towards sustainability goals, remains to be investigated.

Digitala verktyg för hållbar planering och hantering av delad mikromobilitet med hjälp av Big Data

This project establishes a complementary and interdisciplinary team to collectively propose big data assessment methods, conduct empirical analysis, and develop effective SMS management instruments for different urban contexts.

The aim of the project is to advance data-driven assessment methods of SMS and digital SMS management solutions with high scalability, to provide improved decision-support to relevant stakeholders (e.g., urban authorities and operators). Furthermore, this project aims to serve as a pioneering demonstration of innovation across key stakeholders relevant with SMS to roll out the latest methods from academia (Chalmers University of Technology) and relevant practitioner (WSP and CERO) to key utilizers (The City of Stockhom).

The outcomes are targeted at improving the performance (environmental effects and efficiency) of SMS in different contexts and adapting SMS as a flexible, efficient and sustainable supplement in multimodal and inclusive transportation systems for diverse user groups, and ultimately cutting transport-related emissions by 2030 and contributing to sustainable mobility.
