VIDEO: Självkörande fordons påverkan på transportsystemet

Tuesday, January 24, 2023

KTH has recently published a new study on this topic and the findings indicate large gains in accessibility, mainly due to new user groups, including children, getting access to the car mode, and that this might decrease the use of public transport, walking and cycling. The researchers explored different trip purposes (e.g. commuting or recreational trips) and variation in impacts for different geographies and found large variations.

In order to further understand the results and their implications, we invited the main author, Erik Almlöf for a discussion on the paper. Erik Almlöf has worked within the transport field for ten years as an analyst and is currently doing his PhD at the Integrated Transport Research Lab (ITRL) at KTH, investigating societal impacts of self-driving vehicles.

During the event we also got to hear the City of Stockholm's perspectives on the findings, through Sara Bergendorff.

The event was hosted by Malin Andersson, Program Director Drive Sweden and moderated by Rodrigue Al Fahel, Drive Sweden's International Coordinator.
