USDOT Offers Free Webinar on Automation in Europe
Background
The USDOT is hosting a series of webinars on the key issues and opportunities facing the integration of automated vehicles into our transportation system. "Automation in Europe: Update on Activities in the Netherlands, Sweden, and the United Kingdom" is the fourth in this series of webinars produced from the 2015 Automated Vehicles Symposium. Unlike previous installations of this series, this 90-minute webinar will explore Europe's automated vehicle initiatives in the Netherlands, the United Kingdom (UK), and Sweden.
Agenda
Carlos Alban, of the Intelligent Transportation Society of America (ITS America), and Eli Machek, of the Volpe National Transportation Systems Center, will provide an overview of the USDOT's vehicle automation initiatives and ITS America's involvement.
Tom Alkim, of the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment, Netherlands, will discuss how having the presidency of the European Union this year created momentum in the Netherlands for connected and automated driving.
Iain Forbes, of the Department for Transport, UK, will discuss how the automotive industry will see more change in the next decade than in the previous 50 years. He will provide an overview of how the UK government is approaching this shift.
Jan Hellåker, from Lindholmen Science Park, will discuss Drive Sweden, a national effort toward an automated transportation system.
The webinar will conclude with an online question and answer session.
