Smarthem - Connected delivery boxes for increased durability and accessibility

Automating the flow of goods the last mile to the consumer has great potential and there are major investments in autonomous transport systems, new system solutions and changes in laws and regulations. A prerequisite for further development in the area is to simultaneously develop new business models and forms of cooperation for e.g. carriers, system developers and cities. In order to accelerate this development, our intention is to demonstrate precisely how connected operator-independent home delivery boxes can streamline the goods delivery system for carriers and at the same time make it available to the individual.

During the project period, approximately 150 connected delivery points will be established in Huddinge in Stockholm to function as a demonstrator. The project has three focus areas where we intend to understand how connected delivery boxes affect the accessibility of delivery and reception systems by explaining what effects the demonstrated system generates and how these insights can contribute to improving tomorrow's more automated and autonomous delivery and return systems.

The goal of the project is to contribute new knowledge and understanding of how connected delivery boxes contribute to a more accessible and sustainable home delivery system for goods.
