Shared road data for reliable bus traffic

This project includes a system and technology demonstration, which, through a connected transport system, aims to contribute to sustainable public transport thanks to the availability of reliable and accessible road infrastructure.

A public transport system that is reliable, accessible and robust is an important prerequisite for sustainable social development. It requires a road infrastructure that is maintained using effective tools for planning, executing and following up maintenance actions based on up-to-date information about the road condition. The same information is also an important prerequisite for the public transport operators to be able to plan and implement public transport in an efficient and proactive manner.

The goal is to produce necessary knowledge bases to achieve sustainable and attractive public transport through a connected transport system with the help of society´s rapid digitization transformation. The focus in this project will be on the entire value chain for public transport and the different needs of the actors in order to create the conditions for a more attractive public transport.

Through demonstration and evaluation of the opportunities that society's digitization creates, the project will provide the knowledge needed to create the conditions for a faster transition towards sustainable public transport through a road transport system that is resource-efficient, robust, accessible, reliable and equal.
