Road Hero: AI-assisted reporting, the communicating driver
The bus industry and commercial transport industry's incident and deviation reporting is inadequate. The reporting rate is low, the reports are of poor quality and the reporting processes are complex and difficult to overview. In this work, we want to better understand the reporting process, what can be improved and develop technology that interacts with the driver's work environment. An AI assistant that guides through the reporting process enables oral reporting in the driver's native language based on the driver's actual work environment and professional role in the cab.
Objectives
- Improve road safety at the system level through better data collection, sorting and analysis.
- Promote social inclusion and social sustainability with oral reporting in multiple languages to include drivers from different backgrounds.
- A deeper understanding of the reasons for, quantification of and estimated costs of underreporting and better processes for management.
Method
- Design and test an iterative AI-assisted interview process to ensure collection of relevant and high-quality data.
- Conduct a pilot study together with two Swedish bus companies and a co-ownership company to validate the effectiveness and usability of the solution in a real-world environment.
