Digital infrastructure

As the transport sector is transforming into being more connected, automated, electric and service oriented – there is a global race to quickly develop products and services to meet new needs and markets. Drive Sweden has been working with this for a long time and keeps staying at the forefront of this development.

The core of this theme is that automated vehicles and new mobility services will benefit heavily from being connected and managed on a system level, rather than having “autonomous” vehicles and services independently trying to operate mainly based on local sensors and local intelligence. This approach was adopted early by Drive Sweden, by developing and piloting connected cloud services to support automated mobility.

Going forward, we continue building connected services and connected cooperation supporting leading services within automated mobility, with a lot of focus on four key areas:

  • Connected Digital Infrastructure
  • Digital twin
  • AI and Automation
  • Internationalization

By developing and activating our network and innovations, such as among other things our Innovation cloud, we can offer a comprehensive approach to a rapidly developing area. You can find the Innovation cloud below.

    (2018-2019)
    The project will test and demonstrate central cloud-based traffic management system which compiles information and coordinates the information exchange with and between connected vehicles.

    (2019-2021)
    The AVTCT project investigates the effects of traffic on automated vehicle and traffic management of commercially operated fleets and public transport.

  • Demonstration of performance-based traffic regulations Read more

    (2019-2020)
    In this demonstration project, we will test and demonstrate performance-based regulations and traffic decrees in real environments in cities and towns. Through connected vehicles where the regulations are controlled and communicated directly with the vehicles, new conditions are expected to be created for heavy traffic in cities and urban areas.

    The feasability study intends to identify and provide recommendations for how to bring together, within Sweden's focus area Digital Infrastructure, industry, academia, government and other public actors and create the basis for long-term collaboration on strategies, research agendas for an interoperable digital infrastructure for the road transport system.

    Collaborative project on crowdsourcing for tomorrow's public transport and combined mobility. The project approaches crowdsourcing and active traveler contribution, as it will play a crucial role when maintaining public transports competitiveness as well as integration with complementary transport services.

    (2017-2018)
    The project handles a digitized traffic control for connected and autonomous vehicles with traffic control based on different information flows. Within the project, interface will also be proposed and implementation of information flow module for implementation in cloud-based environment, where information from a number of different public and / or private sources can be collected and consolidated.

    There is a great potential for streamlining freight transport through automation, electrification and smart control of vehicle fleets. In the CAT project, solutions for connected driverless electric freight transport are tested and demonstrated.

  • Interlink Read more

    (2017-2018)
    The project is aimed at optimizing resource utilization of automated transport modes by connecting and linking them with existing public transport.

  • Systems and services for mobility Read more

    (2016-2017)
    This project will, within the context of Drive Sweden, implement a leading technology and service platform for connected cloud services supporting automated transport and mobility services. These services will be available for project partners and for interaction with new actors.

  • Traffic management of emergency vehicles Read more

    (2017-2018)
    The project aims to further develop the AD Aware Traffic Control platform with automated cloudservices for sharing Emergency Vehicle information between AD Vehicles (i.e. VolvoCars DriveMe-cars) and Emergency Vehicle Coordinators (i.e. SOS Alarm).
