The Traffic Safety Days 2025: community gathering for the next step towards Vision Zero

Wednesday, October 29, 2025

Over 300 participants gathered at Lindholmen in Gothenburg when Sweden's Traffic Safety Days 2025 – Trafiksäkerhetsdagarna - took place. This was a unique occasion where the entire traffic safety community in Sweden met to share knowledge, network, and broaden perspectives for a safer society.

Malin Andersson

Drive Sweden's Malin Andersson moderated a session on Digital Drivers – the role of technology in sustainable and safe mobility with Univrses, Volvo Group and VTI.

The participants showed an impressive breadth: approximately 35% from municipalities and regions, 30% from the industry, 15% from academia and research, 10% from non-profit organizations, and 10% from government agencies. Together, they filled the conference halls – and the large exhibition with over 50 exhibitors – with conversations, energy, and collaboration.

The program highlighted everything from the global traffic safety agenda to concrete tools for municipalities, the opportunities of digitalization, and how traffic safety can contribute to sustainability, health, and the working environment. The discussions were lively, the networking intensive, and the feeling in the room was clear: traffic safety is created together. Some key topics during the day were the following:

  • 30 km/h in cities, why is it so difficult?
  • Safe vehicles, what can we expect in the near future?
  • City planning from a traffic safety perspective, how to do this?
  • Behaviour, norms and attitudes
  • How can we provide safety for pedestrians and cyclists?

The Traffic Safety Days 2025 showed that Sweden is strongly equipped for the next step in the work towards the Vision Zero.
