H2020RTR21 Conference and CCAM Cluster Meeting in Brussels

Friday, May 6, 2022

Drive Sweden’s European engagements have recently been strengthened, not least through our International Coordinator Josephine Darlington. A short while ago, she was on-site at the H2020RTR21 Conference and the following cluster meeting for the CCAM (Connected, Cooperative and Automated Mobility) partnership in Brussels. Here, she shortly sums up a couple of interesting and intense days in Brussels.

Starting off I had the pleasure, together with my colleague Rodrigue Al Fahel, to visit Catherine Norrgård at the City of Gothenburg Office in Brussels. She kindly guided us around and gave us the main scope of what has been bubbling in the European Commission lately regarding future mobility. In addition, we were able to discuss topics that Swedish actors are pushing for and would be relevant to keep dialogue on during the year.

Tuesday and Wednesday consisted of a number of interesting keynotes in regard to Horizon2020 and reports from newly finished projects sharing insights and results. The topics and constellations varied widely, where I focused on attending sessions on ICT Infrastructure, Urban Logistics, Sustainable Urban Mobility and Connected Automated Mobility. My main takeaway being that the Horizon program offers the possibility for large consortiums with sizeable project budgets to really demonstrate large scale pilots.

Thursday focused more on the future, in the sense of shaping coming Horizon calls. Together with CCAM’s other partners, in total 170 organisations, we had several discussions regarding the seven clusters. From Drive Sweden we mainly had input on C4 Integrating Vehicles in the Transport System, C1 Large Scale Demonstrators and C6 Societal Aspects and User Needs. A great set-up and a lot of involvement from all attendees.

To follow and contribute to the conversations and initiatives within the EU is very important for our combined efforts for future mobility to get the highest possible impact. We are now processing the insights we gained during these days, looking for the best ways for you, our network, to take part of them.
