The company GoKid Corp has developed a new carpooling app for parents to get in touch and help each other with driving children to/from schools. A program called GoKid Connect will run in Michigan 2019-2020, where families in the same school community with the same schedules will be able to get in touch with each other.
The idea is that GoKid’s mobility solution will eventually help parents to drive less and hence reduce traffic and congestion in front of schools. You might argue that carpooling isn’t something new and ground-breaking, but today’s mobility technologies and wireless connectivity solutions offer efficient and simple ways for parents to set up carpooling schedules and invite other families that they know and trust.
Maybe, the solution to the problem with traffic in front of schools is not carpooling. Sure enough, in some places or countries, it is not considered safe for children to go to school by themselves. But why not promote walking or cycling instead where possible?
